The Cal Poly Mustangs will begin this season with second year head coach Aaron Myers and first year assistant coach’s John Landay and Sean O’Brien.

Head Coach
Aaron
Myers
Coach Myers is a San Diego native and played both football and lacrosse
at University of San Diego High School, where he earned first team All
San Diego County as a senior defender and All Western League as a cornerback.
Coach Myers was a four year starter at Cal Poly from 2001-2004, earning
Cal Poly rookie of the year in 2001 and defensive MVP in 2003. He was also
named three times to the USLIA All-America and WCLL All Star teams. Following his senior year at Cal Poly, Aaron was selected to play on the
USA West lacrosse team that competed in the International Friendship games
in Japan and China.
After his playing career, Coach Myers served as the defensive coordinator
for the Mustangs during the 2005 and 2006 seasons and helped lead the Mustangs
to the national quarterfinals in 2006. Coach Myers also works as an outside
salesman for Independent Electric Supply, Inc in San Luis Obispo.

Assistant Coach
John
Landay
John Landay is a new addition to the Cal Poly Mustang coaching
staff this year and he hopes to bring his veteran knowledge of
the game and his experience on the field to continue the success
of the Cal Poly lacrosse program.
Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Coach Landay began his high
school career at Gilman School where he was a member of the 1995
MIAA Varsity Championship team. He later moved to Middletown, Delaware
and completed his high school education at St. Andrew’s School where
he was named a Delaware High School All American.
Coach Landay attended Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut
where he was a captain during the 2000 season and a four year varsity
letter winner. He was also a four time All New England, two time All
NESCAC selection as well as the NESCAC and New England Player of the
Year in 2001. Also in 2001, Coach Landay was selected by the United
States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association as a member of the Division
III All-America third team.
While completing his law degree, Coach Landay served as an assistant coach
at Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia during the 2006 and
2007 seasons.
Coach Landay recently passed the California Bar and currently works as an
associate specializing in corporate and securities law at Reitner, Stuart
& Moore in San Luis Obispo.

Assistant Coach
Sean O'Brien
Sean O’Brien played high school lacrosse at Northampton, Massachusetts and
was named All Western Mass 1st team midfielder in 1984. Sean earned 3 high
school sports letters for football (captain), lacrosse and swim/diving teams.
He played club lacrosse for two years at Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire
before transferring to Cal Poly to play two more seasons.
After graduating from Cal Poly, Sean officiated collegiate lacrosse in the WCLL
for 10 years. Coach O’Brien will focus on the midfielders and offense for Cal Poly
and is very excited to be associated with this successful program once again,
setting a goal to help coach this team to an MCLA national championship title.
